Three sets of ten circles with diameters ranging from 1cm to 10cm, each set in a different colour. one red one blue and one yellow

Direct Aim:

Further exploration of plain figures.

Indirect Aim:

Preparation for Mathematics.

Presentation:

  1. Grade one set/shape/colour in the order.

  2. Mix it up and encourage the child to grade and explore.

 Exercises:

Exercise 1 – Grading any one set of the material.

Exercise 2 – One shape, two colours

From one box take two different colours and superimpose them into different designs.

Exercise 3­­ – two different shapes, two different colours

Combine the shapes, and encourage the child to superimpose from different shapes and colour and explore.

Exercise 4

Leave the child to explore any shapes or colours to do whatever he wishes.

Age:

4 ½  years.  Presented parallel with knobless cylinders.
